Witnesses

Over two days of public hearings (October 8-9, 2025), a total of 24 women survivors delivered testimony at the People’s Tribunal for Women of Afghanistan, utilizing varied formats to ensure their security and safety.

• In-Person Testimony (10 witnesses): All ten testified in person in Madrid, as they currently live in exile outside of Afghanistan.
• Remote Testimony (14 witnesses): To protect their security, 14 individuals testified remotely:
  • Audio Clips (9 witnesses): 5 are currently living inside Afghanistan, and 4 are in exile.
  • Written Texts (5 witnesses): 3 are currently living inside Afghanistan, and 2 are refugees outside Afghanistan.

This careful process ensured that 8 witnesses (one-third of the total) delivered their evidence from inside Afghanistan, providing critical representation of those currently living under Taliban rule.

Twenty one of the testimonies are available under the Hearing and Judgement page of the Website. Three testimonies are withheld from the Website based on the request of the witnesses.
