Marina Forti is an Italian journalist and writer, and currently the Director of the Scuola di Giornalismo Lelio Basso in Rome. Formerly Foreign Editor at Il Manifesto, she has reported widely on immigration, the environment, and international affairs, with extensive travel across Iran, the Indian subcontinent, and Southeast Asia.
Her long-standing column terraterra explored the environment and conflicts over natural resources and earned her the 1999 Premiolino award. She is also the author of La signora di Narmada (Feltrinelli, 2004), which won the Elsa Morante Prize for Communication, and Malaterra. Come hanno avvelenato l’Italia (Laterza, 2018).
In 2021, Forti served as a judge in the PPT session on the murder of journalists. Her work continues to focus on how environmental crises intersect with human rights and democracy.
