Elisenda Calvet-Martínez (Spain)

Dr. Elisenda Calvet-Martínez is an Associate Professor of International Law and Associate Vice-Dean for Research and International Relations at the University of Barcelona. She co-directs the Legal Clinic for the Fight against Impunity and Human Rights, and is a member of the International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS), where she has also served on the Executive Board.

Her professional experience includes work with the Spanish Red Cross, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, and the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. She has also provided strategic legal advice to the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the situation of women in Afghanistan.

Her research focuses on transitional justice, enforced disappearances, genocide, international humanitarian law, and international criminal law. In addition, she has trained Spanish judges and prosecutors on transitional justice and human rights, and currently contributes to the Ukraine Peace Settlement Project at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law, University of Cambridge.
